A “pre-torch arrival” warm-up event, celebrating our Community’s Heritage through music, dance and local foods during a lunchtime gathering at Pender Harbour Elementary-Secondary School of students, families, and guests.

Pender Harbour Elementary Secondary School’s Parent Advisory Committee and the Rotary Club of Pender Harbour will host the lunchtime school event the day prior to the arrival of the Olympic Torch to this area. Students of the School’s Music Program will perform a special song recognizing “Nature’s Gifts” that our community is blessed with. Special guests TBA;

The Pender Harbour Pipe and Drum Band will “Pipe in” the Olympic Torch Runner along the stretch of Highway in front of the School, flanked by 4 local youth representing the Pender Harbour Long Boarding community. Students, School District staff, Aquatic and Fitness Centre participants, Coast Long Boarders and community members will Line the Highway and arch the “Wave In” welcoming the Olympic Torch Runner. Sunshine Coast Regional District Representative for Area “A”, Eric Graham, will be the formal “greeter and speaker”.
Additionally, the Pender Harbour Paddling Society will”present paddles”as a salute.
